Sorta like the Eiffel tower, only it appears in cartoons instead of films; and gets destroyed more often.

In fact, as soon as you see Tokyo Tower in an anime, you can be pretty much certain that it will get trashed. After all, that is what it was built for!
It has been hypothesised that there is a company that exists purely for the replacing of Tokyo Tower after it has been totaled. - Tsunami

Also appears in godzilla films, and gets destroyed even more often - though not quite as often as the tax office.
