Sepow

In the Akan tribe, a sepow was the symbol of an executioner's authority.  It was a dagger which the executioner thrust through the victim's cheeks, just before killing him, in order  to prevent the victim invoking a curse upon the king.

This led to it becoming a [design used in Adinkra cloth] as a symbol of justice.
