Colle shuts the door behind her and sighs. Inric's little dragon ferret watches her, eyes bright.
"I feel like I should apologise," she tells it. "There is far too much I don't know." She reaches out and tickles the dragon ferret under the chin. His short fur is surprisingly soft. "But I think I'd have more luck getting answers out of you than your boss." She straightens up. "Well, there's more than one way to catch a haggis."
Copper watches her march off down the corridor, filled with fresh determination. That night, the light in Colle's room remains on long after all other lights in the Great Library have been extinguished.
