"So he is going back to talk to the owner of the book." Mina listens to Magistra Colle with growing disbelief.
"But I don't understand!" she protests in Eldarin, fumbling for words in the unfamiliar language. "He not know language, not like talking!"
"You're right," Colle muses, lapsing into Eynvardis, "it doesn't sound like his sort of thing." Then, to Mina, in careful Eldarin, "I think he found something good. Interesting. Don't worry." Mina looks dubious. "I mean," Colle continues, speaking more to herself now, in Eynvardis, "he's old enough to look after himself."
When Mina relays what she understood of the stilted conversation to Jakin, he is equally disbelieving.

"I know. I think she must've got something wrong."
