"Maybe it was the distribution," Ffion wonders out loud. "When did Ellis start doing that?"
"Since a week or two after you arrived," Rhodri says. "Ever since he started baking full time."
Ffion goes to the table and starts collecting dishes, not wanting to think about all the signs she's missed over the past months. "We should tell the family," she says instead. "They'll know what to do. You go to the manse and I'll clear up here, all right?"
Later on, with the teahouse tidied up and closed, Ffion walks across the courtyard and heads up the steps to their apartment. She is prepared for it to feel weird, with Ellis missing. She is not prepared for what meets her eyes when she opens the door.
