Inric, unaware of the chaos afflicting Colle in the Great Library, walks down what looks remarkably like a path. Scrubby hills rise on either side, with stunted trees contorted around their slopes. Regular marks in the dirt suggest that this is a route in regular use, but nobody is visible. Then, as he rounds a corner, he sees a small, regular-shaped mound with a ladder against its side. And then he stops in his tracks as a voice rings out.
"Don't come any closer!"
He looks up to see a small figure silhouetted on the mound, half hidden by the curve of the hill. She is holding up what looks like a book, directly over a bucket. Copper is gazing at the book intently.
"Or I will drop this in oil and set light to it," she says.
Inric stands very still.
