"Oh, hello Anvar," his mother greets him as the door swings shut behind him. Then she frowns at his expression. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." He scowls, fiddling with his shoes.
"Did you see your uncle today?"
"Yes."
"Ah, is that what happened?"
"He's not interested in me!" Anvar bursts out. "In us! In his family!"
"Did he say that?"
"Yes!"
"What did he actually say?"
"I said I was busy and I was, uh, was doing fine and didn't need help," Anvar says, putting a very positive spin on his words. "He said 'good' and left!"
