"My order claims no debt for physicking," Brother Aldus says, which isn't the point, but Inric doesn't interrupt. "In any case, I have done little other than provide a bed, and the pot plant equilibrium sink. Wil is the one who found you. He's gone to Milburh, but he'll be back later, and glad to see you awake." He stops as a bell starts to ring in steady, melodious peals. "Ah, it is time for the noon chorale." He picks up the pot plant again and heads for the curtain. "I'll be back shortly."
Inric stares thoughtfully at Copper, curled up on his lap and snoozing through the bell, which was still pealing. Then the curtain moves again, and he looks up to see an unfamiliar face. Standing just inside his chamber and looking at him with eager intent is a young man wearing a similar loose gown to Inric's, with one arm in a sling.
