"You should rest now," Brother Aldus says, as Inric sits back on the bed with a sigh. Beside him, Wilmaer nods and smiles.
"Thank you, Seer!" he says. "No debt remains."
The curtain swings behind them, and Inric puts one hand to his aching head. But there is no time to waste. Carefully, he peels off the bandage and puts it on the bed, coiled roughly next to one of the books he'd been reading. He pauses and lays one hand on the cover, and then the air shimmers, and he and Copper are there no longer.
