Inric's last memory of Narayedaran is the day they said farewell. Nara had headed off to join his clan, and Invar had chosen to remain at the Great Library, because he didn't want to fight his friends. Didn't want to fight Nara.
After he finishes, there is a long silence. Carianaya's eyes are shut, and her face tense, as though she is holding back some strong emotion, but in the end, she just says "I am grateful for your kindness in sharing your memories of my son."
Lurking by the doorway, Tiero listens intently, but he has heard nothing about Sa Ayen specifically. Perhaps he shouldn't have expected much from one old woman, but still. And then he hears a cheerful chirrup from beside him, and he freezes in horror at the sight of Pepper, the ever-curious and distinctly cheeky kit, come to find out what's going on.
