"Go on, Cadok," and Kelyn gives her little brother a nudge. "I want to do some trading now."
Cadok scampers away, and Kelyn heads over to meet her usual dealer, who appraises her lanterns approvingly.
"Fine work as usual," he says.
"Thank you!"
No need to mention the disappointment at their failure. They are still good small lanterns, delicately wrought with intricate patterns. Pleased despite it all, Kelyn carries on through the fair until she spots one particular caravan. She pauses by its wheel, then edges around carefully, heading for the front and the person who should be waiting for her.
