"Why the long face?"
"Go away," Kelyn says, not wanting to talk to Ruan or anyone else. But her annoying cousin sits down on the boulder next to her anyway, and offers a mug.
"What, and drink both coffees myself?"
"Oh... thanks, Ruan." She takes one and sighs.
"So what is it? Missing Grandpa?"
"Maybe." The coffee scent fills her nose, dark and promising.
"He did love the fair," Ruan says, and smiles. "Their next stop is Lethey, you know."
"Are you trying to get rid of me?" Kelyn takes a long drink, wanting to at least taste the coffee before throwing it at Ruan, which is becoming a more tempting prospect with every word he says.
