The change comes suddenly to Kelyn, lying in the dark and waiting for something to happen. There's a creak, a shuffle and hasty footsteps from near above, then Nectan's voice shouting, "Benesek, no! Wait!" Then the door slams, and then there is silence.
Barely daring to breathe, Kelyn pushes up and the ceiling of her prison lifts, revealing it to be the seat of a wagon, as she had guessed. The wagon is much smaller than Jory's, with just enough room for two beds along its length and a small storage-chest-cum-table in the middle. It holds a plate, jug and cutlery, as well as the bottle she had been caught with. There are also bookshelves over the end of each bed, but Kelyn's attention is on the door. Scrambling out of the seat storage, she hurries over to it, but a quick test proves what she feared.
"Locked!"
