The innkeeper has a stall for the donkey and one to spare, and even throws in an extra blanket. After stabling the beast, Hian sits herself down in the spare stall and passes blankets to Nikhil and Ulin as they nestle into the straw beside her. The straw is clean, although some of the other stalls smell, thanks to the beasts within.
"Are we going home tomorrow?" Ulin asks.
"We need to buy supplies first," Hian says. "Then you and Nikhil can take the donkey back. I have to go to Tamarai."
"For the medicine?"
"We can go home on our own?" Nikhil sounds excited. Hian turns onto her side, pulling her blanket over her.
"So long as you can convince me you're not going to end up squabbling with each other on the way," she says.
