She takes a deep breath, tries to be cheerful. There is no way she can just let him walk into Orun. Even with the hood on, it's obvious what he is. "Look, I'm going on to Tamarai now," she tries. "If there's information, that's where it will be. We should go together. I'll show you where to ask."
The wizard looks at her, looks away, then says slowly, almost reluctantly, "I would... appreciate that."
Hian is too relieved to question his attitude. She waves a hand in airy acknowledgement and points to the road circling the small town.
"No obligation and all that," she says. "Take that road round Orun. Don't go into the town. I'll be with you in a moment."
Thus warned, Nikhil scurries away, keeping his head low behind the wall.
