"Who was that person?" Colle asks, coming up to walk beside Inric. He eyes her sideways, unsurprised that she'd been eavesdropping.
"Someone with a mistaken idea about his authority here."
"He seemed very rude. So who is the senior librarian?"
"That... may be a matter of some debate." Inric frowns in thought. "The most obvious person would be Oledharin Ethn-Avarilis Seir-Hathuris, if he is still alive."
"What did he mean about being a bad influence?" Colle asks, going back to Kitharissien. Inric sighs.
"The continuation of a family line is held to be of paramount importance," he says, not looking at Colle as they reach the door to his chambers. "I have never been interested in that particular obligation." He pauses inside and looks back to where she has stopped on the threshold. "To Kitharissien, I do indeed present a bad example."
"So he might actually complain?" She looks worried, but Inric is too tired to evade the question or pursue the issue.
"I doubt it. My choices are none of his business."
