Tamarai is considerably bigger than Orun, with better paving and a lot more stone buildings - although there are still plenty of wooden ones. Hian stops in front of one of the two-storey buildings.
"Well, here we are," she says. "You two wait here, I'll see if Davo's inside."
Inric watches as she disappears inside the building, resisting the urge to pull at the mask covering the lower half of his face. He feels utterly ridiculous, but very few people have given him a second look, so clearly Hian was right about it.
One of the people who has been giving him second looks - all day - is Nikhil. He's doing it now.
"Um, you were at the ruins, weren't you? Three days ago?" he says, apparently deciding to speak up at last.
"That is correct."
"Were you ever there before?" There's a curious intentness in the question.
"No. I have never visited this region before."
He is clearly crestfallen, but before he can say anything else, Hian reappears in the doorway and waves them over.
"Come on in!"
