I missed the practical preparation today. I'm supposed to be demonstrating for the amoeba practical on Monday and I just totally forgot to go. I do remember the practical, though - it was great fun. You get to look at a live amoeba meeb under the microscope ^.^ Moonshadow sent me this. It is a website with a number of exchanges between the guy who owns the website and the senders of the Nigerian scam emails - the ones where they offer you tons of money if you'll 'just' give them a bit in advance. The website has some more details on the actual scam, but the best parts are the accounts of emails exchanged between the scammer and this guy. My favourite of the lot is the last one listed, the Cthulhu mick-take. Personally, I just delete them, but I'm glad someone is getting some amusement from them... and he actually managed to get bank details out of the Cthulhu guy, which is impressive. Spam is bad enough when it's just 'enlarge your body in unusual places!' but this kind of spam has been known to fool people into going along with it - and they lose their money or, worse, get kidnapped and held for ransom. Not nice. I'll try and get some more of the First Story up soon. I've also got something else I want to work on, which I'll put up as soon as I can ^.^ - Sun Kitten, 18th October '02 |
