I forgot to mention it last update, but there's been a bit of kerfuffle about CafePress. They've upped their takings a bit - previously, they gave a base price for each item and the shop-owner added a commission to equal the final item price. Now CafePress have stated that they will take 5% of the commission as well. There are some other details involving tax (I'm a bit hazy on that, since it only has information for USA tax-payers, which we blatantly are not), and they also managed to spectacularly misphrase a paragraph in their copyright section, thus claiming rights to all images used on their products. The debate is linked to from the wiki CafePress page, so go there for details. The upshot is, MoonShadow and I are considering closing the toothycat store. The decision will be made by the end of this month, so if you were going to buy a T-shirt or something, get it now. We may well keep the store, but better safe than sorry. In addition to all of that, we will probably start doing our own stuff. It won't be as good quality as CafePress' stuff is, nor will we have such a range, but we'll have a bit more flexibility, and we might be able to do some things cheaper - including delivery, if you are anywhere near Cambridge, or in London for LAC. The T-shirt we printed out a while ago, for MoonShadow, seems fairly good, and has coped with two washes now without a problem. We're now waiting for the return of my laptop before we test the idea.. Two days ago, two of the technicians in our lab went to a safety meeting and were told we had to have safety information and instructions for our kickstool. They came back pretty annoyed about the whole silly thing, however, they also inspired another member of the lab to spend an hour creating an appropriate leaflet. It was printed and 'posted' to the two technicians, who had no trouble at all believing it had been sent, in good faith, from the safety officer (they were less sure when they saw the contact information at the end).
