MoonShadow really enjoyed this film. There was a wonderful sense of presence, of being pulled into the story. Character development/interaction was excellent, and the whole thing felt authentic (although MoonShadow knows little about sailing so wouldn't really know if they got things wrong).
PeterTaylor's company had an outing to see MasterAndCommander - The Far Side of the World yesterday. (Note: MasterAndCommander is the first book in the series. The Far Side of the World is the 10th book in the series. The film doesn't appear to borrow much more than the characters from either, based on the synopsis of Far Side). The evolution views which the doctor implied seemed somewhat anachronistic, but having just Googled a bit, I'd have to check what he did say to compare with people like de Maupertuis.
