Mina and Jakin watch from a balcony as Inric shows the new person to a small bedroom. It's one of many in a long row, opening out onto a sheltered external corridor.
"I didn't know there were bedrooms here," Mina says.
"Doesn't Inric sleep here?"
"No, he sleeps in the library." Mina remembers the makeshift bed between the bookshelves. Surely that couldn't be at all comfortable? But Jakin nods sagely.
"Oh, to be near the books," he says, and Mina can only agree.
