"Oh, hello," Colle's voice breaks into the peace of the morning, and Inric looks up from his book.
"Good morning."
"Did you find your book?"
"I did."
"Have you been to the records room?"
"Not since the day before yesterday, no. Why?"
"Yllianvarar left in a hurry yesterday," Colle says, now looking worried. "His papers are in a mess. He said something about an assembly, and he seemed quite agitated." She holds out a small wooden object. "He left this behind. I wondered if it was something important?" Inric knows from a glance what it is, and despite the years, his brother's loss still aches.
"It is," he says, "but not for an assembly."
