The next morning, Kelyn wakes to the sound of knocking at the door. Blinking sleepily, she pulls on her tunic and goes to answer. Her mother and little brother are outside.
"We came to say goodbye," her mother says. "But did you know all the other wagons are ready to go?"
"What?!" Kelyn turns to look around and sees that, indeed, the other wagons are turning and trundling away from the camp site.
"Don't worry, we'll help you get going," her mother says.
"Here's your kauro," Ruan says, on his way over with one of the draft beasts.
"How do you know it's the right one?"
"It's the only one left."
