By the time Jory's kauro is harnessed and ready, all three adults are exhausted and confused. But every buckle has been done up, the shafts have been thoroughly checked, and the beast seems comfortable, so all that remains is for Kelyn to shake the reins and urge the kauro on their way. She perches on the platform, feet dangling between the shafts, feeling profoundly out of her depth.
"Good luck!" Ruan calls.
"Safe travels!" from her mother.
"Thanks...."
They watch the wagon as it moves away along the trail the others took.
"Will she be all right?"
"She'll work it out."
