After crossing the bridge, Hian pauses and digs out one of the honey pots, handing it to Ulin.
"Here, Ulin, Nina the honey we owe her."
Ulin takes the pot and trots off along the bank of the small lake to where Nina is visible in the shed to the side of her longhouse, working on her wheel. Nikhil tags along.
Nina looks up from her pot as they approach, the wheel slowing. "Hello, Ulin, is that my honey?"
"Yes, for the pots."
"And I get one back, good." She smiles. "Put it on the shelf. How's your foster mama?"
"She's getting better," Ulin says, going behind Nina to put the green glazed pot on the shelf.
"You're taking the rest to Orun?" Nina asks. "Will you see your family there?"
Ulin stiffens. "I don't know, it depends." She starts away from the shed, her face set. Nikhil hurries after her.
"Well, say hello to them for me if you do," Nina calls, seemingly unaware of Ulin's anger. "Have a safe trip!"
