Hian is a smallholder who shares her cottage with her widowed sister-in-law, Shrey, and a collection of adoptees to whom she plays the aunt.
Hian is tall, with pale brown skin, rectangular projecting ears, a blunt nose, and a thick mane of brindled hair. Her nose, ears and hands are darker in colour, in the manner of her people. She is wearing a tunic over a blouse, underskirt and divided skirt in shades of red and green.
